Professional Programme

Applied Software Engineering

Most introductory courses teach syntax and stop. This one starts from a running system: a codebase with tests, a deploy pipeline, users who complain, and a bug that only appears on Fridays.

What you will be able to do

  • Read and change an unfamiliar production codebase without breaking it
  • Design a schema, an API and the migration path between two versions of it
  • Write tests that catch the failures you actually have, not the ones that are easy to test
  • Operate a deployment: logs, metrics, rollback, and an incident written up honestly
  • Review another engineer's work with specifics rather than taste
