Assessment & integrity
Authorship, declared help including AI tools, resubmission and misconduct.
1. Authorship
Assessed work must be the student's own. Quotation, collaboration and assistance must be declared in the submission note: who helped, how, and with which part.
2. AI tools
AI tools may be used for research, structuring and editing, provided the use is declared and the submitted work is the student's own writing and judgement. Undeclared generation of assessed text is treated as misconduct. In the oral defence, students are expected to explain and defend every choice in the work.
3. The defence
Each final piece is defended live. The defence exists to establish authorship as much as quality: a student who cannot account for the work fails it, whatever its quality.
4. Resubmission
One resubmission per block is included, at no extra cost, on the tutor's written feedback. A second resubmission is at the programme board's discretion and may carry a fee.
5. Misconduct
Plagiarism, fabricated evidence, undeclared help, or misrepresenting another person's work. Consequences range from a requirement to resubmit, to failure of the block, to termination of enrolment in serious cases. The student is told the allegation in writing and may respond before a decision.
6. Appeals
Assessment decisions can be appealed under the Complaints & appeals policy.
